Westworld Season 2 Review: 10 Spoiler-Free Reactions To The First Five Episodes
6. It's More Action-Packed
Chaos reigns in Season 2. The hosts are 'free', although that freedom itself is questionable since it's still all part of Ford's plan, and the uprising is in full swing, with Dolores/Wyatt and Teddy leading the charge.
The first season wasn't exactly worried about spilling blood, but it's even more prominent in Season 2. Wyatt, who serves as something closer to an anti-hero or even villain, slaughters those who stand in her way, backed by characters like Teddy and Angela. With the battle lines being drawn, gunfights are breaking out all over the place, more and more hosts and humans are being cut down, and there's a heavier focus than before on the action.
That's mostly a good thing, because it's all very well shot and exciting to witness, meaning episodes tend to zip by. It's also, by and large, important to the narrative, rather than simply having action for the sake of it or using gory violence to try and shock viewers (although it is frustratingly guilty of that on the odd occasion, especially in the early episodes).
