Young Justice: Outsiders - 6 Major Questions After The First Three Episodes
2. What Happened To Aquaman?
Perhaps the biggest development that took place during the two-year gap revolved around Kaldur'ahm a.k.a. Aqualad. The two-time leader of the young team had seemingly ascended the ranks at an incredibly quick rate to become not just the new Aquaman, but the leader of the Justice League.
While leading the League is undoubtedly a major honour and a huge development for the character, it is his new title that raises the most questions. Wearing a modified version of his mentor's armour, Kaldur maintained his composure as he led the team that was comprised of his former teachers - but the most important one, his friend and mentor Arthur Curry, was nowhere to be seen. Understandably, this raises concerns about the original Aquaman.
While it's not hard to believe that Kaldur's brilliance as a leader led to his eventual promotion to the Justice League (and his subsequent promotion to the position of leader), we have to wonder if his change of persona came about because something happened to his mentor. After all, his exemplary leadership skills would have still been present if he helmed the Justice League under the Aqualad persona - so why has he become Aquaman, and why has there been no reference to his predecessor?
Now that his protégée is leading the most powerful team of superheroes in the world, has Arthur merely returned to rule over Atlantis once more? Or did Kaldur take up the mantle to pay tribute to his fallen leader? Time will tell.
