10 Absolute WORST Wrestling Moments Of 2023
6. Roman Reigns Vs Jey Uso Bleeds The Story Dry
As of writing, Roman Reigns has wrestled eleven matches in 2023, but it's not just a fantastic contract preserving both his body and his aura.
'The Tribal Chief' has completely transformed the way he works, turning energetic hybrid main events into evocative slow-burners thanks to rivalries with the likes of Sami Zayn, Cody Rhodes and The Usos that have resulted in full arenas and packed stadiums living or dying by the babyfaces in question. Sadly, SummerSlam only brought the latter, and with it a further realisation that The Bloodline should have gone out on top at WrestleMania 39 rather than spending another year trying to extract gold from decidedly silver medal material.
The thing about WWE's fruitful 2023 is that objective business metrics robustly disprove this thinking, but the creative cul-de-sac was reached at the 'Biggest Party Of The Summer'. By the time the hideously drab main event concluded with an Uso-on-Uso heel turn and Roman's lamest retention, the only reason left for the stable to continue was to strap 'The American Nightmare' up 12 months later.
