The Undertaker-Shawn Michaels match at Badd Blood 1997 wasn't the first contest between the two men, but as the first-ever Hell in a Cell match, it stood for years as their most memorable encounter. Undertaker beat Michaels to a bloody pulp in a masterpiece of brutality, but before he could put him away, Kane debuted, attacked his brother, and gave Shawn Michaels the win.

A few months later, Michaels was put on the shelf with an injury, and when he returned to WWE in 2002, he and Undertaker were kept apart. For years, Michaels was on Raw and Undertaker was on Smackdown, but they had an exciting finishing sequence in the 2007 Royal Rumble, then started the match in 2008. Finally, they had a match at WrestleMania 25, with Michaels vowing to end The Undertaker's undefeated streak at the event.

The bout was highly anticipated, and it delivered everything fans wanted. Undertaker nearly wiped himself out with a botched plancha, and Michaels kicked out of a Tombstone, but in the end, Undertaker was victorious.

The bout won 2009's Slammy Award for Match of the Year, but when Michaels accepted the trophy, he challenged Undertaker to a rematch. This time, HBK's career was on the line, and since WrestleMania 26 was the site, so was the streak. Once again, both men put on a classic that reminded fans why they'll always be remembered as two of the best ever, and once again, The Undertaker came out on top.
