3. Steve Austin
As 'Stone Cold', Steve Austin was the centrepiece of the 'Attitude Era' in the WWF from late-1997 right up until around 2002. Towards the end of that main run, Austin was experiencing major burn out from years of being on the road. In addition, pain had mounted up due to injuries, and he snapped before one episode of Raw in June. Walking out on the company, it'd be months before the man returned. During that period, Austin and McMahon were not on speaking terms. This wasn't the first time they had collided, at least not according to Austin. Throughout the height of their onscreen feud in the 1990's, both men struggled to get along at times. Both insanely driven people, there was a lot of testosterone flying around whenever both were in the same room, which put a strain on their relationship. Following one episode of Raw, McMahon was furious that Austin hadn't been more physical with him in the ring. Feeling the segment looked weak, the pair had an argument. That was nothing compared to what happened in 2002, when Austin felt putting over Brock Lesnar in a throwaway King Of The Ring qualifying match was bad business. Storming out of the promotion, Austin left McMahon disgusted by how he had acted.
