Royal Rumble season is always the best time to be a WWE fan. WrestleMania may be the biggest show of the year, but nothing compares to the excitement of the 30 man car crash. Unfortunately, the matches haven’t always left a good taste in our mouths. And the crowd booing at the end of a Rumble usually accompanies some of the worst booking decisions WWE have ever made. Not 2018 though. That year, we got everything we could possible ask from the Royal Rumble.

It was a historic night even before it began because of the debut of the women’s Rumble. And both matches delivered on the action. However it was the endings that made everyone jump out of their seats and hug every stranger in the vicinity. Shinsuke Nakamura and Asuka, two Japanese wrestlers, crowd favorites, tremendous in ring technicians and perhaps most importantly of all, nowhere near the typical Vince McMahon template for a big star, were the ones left standing at the end.

It all went downhill from there, but for that one magical moment, WWE gave its followers exactly what they desired.
