10 Controversial Cases Of The WWE Censoring Fans

8. Be A Star

While the previous two cases may have ticked off a few fans, this next one could have resulted in a public relations nightmare had the company not intervened as it did. During 2012€™s SummerSlam Axxess event€”right at the height of the Be A Star anti-bullying campaign€”a sign was confiscated despite seeming to make a pretty valid point. The sign in question showed the campaign name alongside a screenshot of the segment in which Vince McMahon ridiculed JR€™s Bell€™s Palsy. Once more it€™s possible to see why the company would like to have covered this up, but it begs the questions of what McMahon was thinking in the first place when he went ahead with that segment. Surely he knew the upset it could cause and the backlash it could potentially bring? The entire situation could have been handled much better, but aside from the questions that this raises about the WWE€™s sincerity, it certainly shows that they€™re not afraid to shut up an audience if that€™s what€™s best for business.
