Known as a man who enjoys the finer things in life, and the possessions and lifestyle the WWE environment affords him, 'The Animal' lost quite a bit of dough following a Steel Cage Match with Chris Jericho. Blading during the bout, Batista was fined $100,000 by Vince McMahon, who was livid that anyone would disregard his strict no-blood policy. Jericho himself was implicated by McMahon, who felt he shouldn't have been involved in such a situation, fining Y2J $5,000. Feeling peeved that he'd been punished for the actions of somebody else, Jericho was nonetheless relieved when Batista revealed he would pay the fine, as well as for the five grand sanction placed on road agent, Dean Malenko. Incidents such as this show that, even though Jericho was by this point considered a main event player in WWE, he wasn't immune to the wrath of McMahon. Situations like this one prove that Chris Jericho's position as a top guy in the company has at times been fragile, and he should be thankful that Batista was honourable enough to admit full responsibility, even though he had warned Jericho before the match about his intentions to bleed.
