Blading during the bout, Batista was fined $100,000 by Vince McMahon, who was livid that anyone would disregard his strict no-blood policy. Jericho himself was implicated by McMahon, who felt he shouldn't have been involved in such a situation, fining Y2J $5,000. Feeling peeved that he'd been punished for the actions of somebody else, Jericho was nonetheless relieved when Batista revealed he would pay the fine, as well as for the five grand sanction placed on road agent, Dean Malenko. Incidents such as this show that, even though Jericho was by this point considered a main event player in WWE, he wasn't immune to the wrath of McMahon.
