There's nothing quite like seeing a giant take flight in the middle of a squared-circle.

But for every mesmerising Wardlow swanton and Braun Strowman splash, there's unfortunately another instance of a big man horrifically crashing and burning in the thick of a contest.

And perhaps the most frightening moment of a gigantic move from the heavens not going to plan in recent times went down during the 2021 AEW World Championship Eliminator Tournament.

As Lance Archer looked to move one step closer to World title glory, he decided to go for a stunning moonsault off the top-rope onto a battered Eddie Kingston below.

The second his feet left the rope, however, fans were holding their breath at what immediately looked like a daring move too far for the 'Muderhawk Monster.' Instead of smashing his massive torso into the ground, Archer's 273lb frame crashed down onto his head from up high.

With the match being brought to abrupt end shortly after, it soon became clear that Archer had twisted his neck during the botched flip. But things could have definitely been a whole lot worse.

As the star himself eventually noted to Busted Open Radio (via WrestlingHeadlines), had he bounced off any part of the crown of his head and not his forehead, there's a solid chance he could have been paralysed or even killed.

Instead he basically gave himself "an extreme version of whiplash" and was back doing what he loves a few months later.
