10 Forgotten Classics Of WWE's Ruthless Aggression Era
8. Goldberg Vs. The Rock - Backlash 2003

When the Invasion angle took place in mid 2001, there were several key names missing from the WCW team sheet. While many of these would eventually float over in the year that followed -from Flair, Steiner, and Mysterio to Hall, Nash, and Hogan - there was one man who was conspicuous by his absence.
So when it was announced during WrestleMania XIX that Goldberg would make his in-ring return at Backlash, fans were elated to see that WCW's franchise player would finally be making the jump to WWE. His appearance the very next night on Raw was an epic debut, interrupting none other than The Rock during 'Rock Appreciation Night'.
With one vicious spear, Backlash became a must-see PPV instantly. While the match itself was far from a technical masterpiece, the sheer magnitude of the bout was WrestleMania worthy. It was WCW's biggest homegrown talent against his WWE counterpart, with a boisterous crowd on hand to witness it all.
Goldberg's WWE in-ring debut and The Rock's last match for some time, the bout was historic. It was also surprisingly long for a Goldberg match, particularly as he had been out of regular competition for over two years. With 13 minutes of back and forth action, Goldberg vs. Rock at Backlash '03 is a must watch.
