An often neglected bout from the Ruthless Aggression Era is the awesome battle of the Raw GMs at Survivor Series 2003. Pitting Eric Bischoff's team of hired thugs against the 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin's team of anti-Eric renegades, Austin and Bischoff took their rivalry to the next level by putting their respective GM roles on the line.

In a telling statistic, nine of the ten men involved in the match itself are now former World Heavyweight Champions. With the careers of Austin and Bischoff in the balance, the bout had a high stakes feel going into it and the match more than lived up to the hype when the opening bell arrived.

With several intertwining feuds between the opposing participants, the bout was a tangled web of wrestling rivalry. Michaels had feuded with Y2J and Orton, Booker T had history with Steiner, Van Dam had crossed paths with Christian, as well as several other heated combinations of participants.

A bloody and dramatic finale, with an emotional post-match speech, brought this epic war to a fitting conclusion after half an hour of action. As the first traditional Survivor Series match in two years, the bout breathed new life into the concept and the classic structure is still going strong to this day.
