10 Former WWE Stars Who Should Return In 2018

6. Rey Mysterio

CM Punk World Champion
WWE

The former World Heavyweight Champion starred in one of the Royal Rumble's most pop-worthy moments, raising the roof with a great little run that felt like WWE's 'make good' for his dismal positioning in the same bout four years prior, when he was jeered to hell by virtue of not being Daniel Bryan.

Mysterio will wrestle Justin 'Thunder' Liger at NJPW's upcoming Strong Style Evolved event, and his long-term future is still up in the air. Fortunately, it sounds like WWE are planning on bringing him back, with recent reports linking the masked man with a part-time spot. Rey's looking for Chris Jericho-esque freelance role, and if him and WWE come to terms, we could see him again by the year's end.

This would be a smart move. Mysterio's Rumble appearance generated immense buzz. He looked leaner, faster, and straight up better than he has in years (in WWE, at least), and the YouTube clip has over 12 million views. Clearly, there's demand for another run.

Whether giving 205 Live some much needed star power or working dream matches with the likes of AJ Styles, there's plenty WWE could do with Rey in 2018.
