10 Huge Wrestling Matches That Were Put On The Scrap Heap
6. Bret Hart vs. Hulk Hogan (SummerSlam 1993)
It really seems that Hulk Hogan and Bret Hart will never be the best of friends, and a lot of that animosity comes from the side of the Canadian. Stemming from the early-90's, when Hogan returned to the WWF and bagged the top title at WrestleMania IX, Hart feels the Hulk reneged on a promised match between the pair for the belt at Summerslam 1993. Losing to Yokozuna at 'Mania, Hart was forced to pretend he was delighted to see Hogan ride to his rescue. Minutes later, Hulkamania was running wild in the company once more, and Hulk was on top of the mountain as WWF Champion. Hogan would later lose the belt back to Yoko at the first King Of The Ring supershow, but initial plans called for him to drop the belt to Bret at Summerslam. This would have been a real case of the WWF of old against the so-called 'New Generation'. Hogan represented what the company had stood for in the 80's, whereas Hart was typical of a fresh direction the promotion were taking, allowing smaller, more agile workers to wrestle rings around one another. It seems Hart still hasn't forgiven his rival for reneging on the match.
