10 Jaw-Dropping Times WWE Blurred The Lines
2. Curtain Call
In what is perhaps the best example of this “blurring the
lines” business not necessarily being a modern phenomenon, here we have an
entry from all the way back in 1996.
With Kevin Nash and Scott Hall having recently signed for WCW, they were afforded one final moment in the sun at the end of a Madison Square Garden house show. After a show-closing cage match between Nash and Shawn Michaels, Hall was allowed to make his way to the ring to bid farewell to his buddy Michaels.
Not much of a problem there then, since both were faces at the time, but when Triple H then joined the celebrations, no one was quite sure what to make of it. Here were Nash, Michaels, Hall, and Triple H clearly showing their true allegiances, despite the fact that just that evening they’d supposedly been arch-enemies.
For many fans this was their earliest glimpse of the true workings of pro wrestling, although admittedly it likely wasn’t supposed to be common knowledge, given that it went down on a house show.
Still, the lines had been blurred like never before, with the juicy dramas from behind the curtain beginning to be exposed to the world.
