10 Major Stars Who Weren’t At WWE SummerSlam 2019 (Even Though They Should Have Been)
3. Roman Reigns
Roman Reigns has unexpectedly found himself at the heart of a whodunit storyline in recent weeks, with some mysterious foe attempting to take him out with both falling scaffolding and a moving vehicle. While ‘The Big Dog’ has yet to figure out who it was, he did discover on SmackDown Live that Rowan was present for the first incident.
Now, aside from the obvious fact that Roman is one of the biggest stars in the company (and thus, certainly should have been featured on the SummerSlam card), it’s rather baffling that the-powers-that-be went to the effort to end the go-home edition of SmackDown with a tease like that only to have him no-show at SummerSlam.
Moreover, Michael Cole continued to reference Roman’s attacker throughout the pay-per-view before they even played a promo video of the events that have taken place so far, as if it were a precursor to a promo or showdown at the event, and yet again, nothing happened.
Not only does all of this make no sense whatsoever, it deprived the show of the multiple stars involved in the narrative. Couldn’t Roman have shown up to cut a promo on his feelings about Rowan’s supposed involvement? Couldn’t he have called out Daniel Bryan and confronted him over his silence on the matter? We know that both of those guys were in the building, so why wouldn’t the ‘Big Dog’ want answers on a grand stage like SummerSlam?
Guess he thinks Raw is more important...
