10 Major WWF Stars (That WCW Stupidly Let Go)

9. Rob Van Dam

Rob Van Dam signed with WCW in late 1992, appearing under the name Robby V and wowing audiences with his athletic range of moves. Unfortunately he didn't quite wow the WCW back room staff, who were still solidly focused on gimmicks over athletes. Just a year later Van Dam left the company by mutual consent to "develop his experience" on the independent scene. What a decision that turned out to be. Van Dam became a focal point of Paul Heyman's ECW promotion, earning himself a revered reputation throughout the industry. Noticing Van Dam's growing profile, WCW tried to sign him back, offering him the role of 'Glacier' in 1996. However, having let him go once, WCW paid the price. Paul Heyman convinced Van Dam to stay with ECW and become the promotion's franchise star. He ended up sticking with the Extreme brand until the very end in 2001, at which point WCW had gone out of business, resulting in RVD signing with WWE. The rest is history, he quickly established himself in WWE as one of their very best performers. His upper mid card battles often stole the show and eventually he ended up becoming WWE Champion in 2006. WCW truly F'd up when they let go 'The Whole F'n Show'!
