10 Most Notorious Kurt Angle Urban Legends

1. He Was Close To Signing With WWE In 2014

The Story: That Kurt was close to resigning with WWE when his TNA contract expired in 2014. The Evidence: Angle's TNA contract expired on September 21st, 2014. That news put the wrestling world on notice. It was reported in the wrestling press that Angle was trying to broker a return to WWE. The Olympic hero had always said he wanted to finish up in the company that made him a star. Even before his TNA contract expired, Angle began negotiating with WWE. To his surprise, he was dealing primarily with Triple H and not Vince McMahon, as he had done in the past. It was reported in August by The Wrestling Observed that Angle was not happy with the negotiations. Triple H said 'no' to an Angle return and then Angle apparently went directly to Vince, which annoyed The Game. He felt Angle was trying to undermine him. Either way, a WWE return was off the cards. WWE had been wary of Angle due to his erratic behaviour and the resultant legal issues that he'd had in the past. Angle decided to re-sign with TNA for another year. Is It True: No, not really. While fans would no doubt loved to have seen Angle in a WWE ring again, WWE weren't interested. Angle has been a liability in the past and his injury woes are well-documented. While Angle could survive doing a TV/PPV only schedule, WWE don't view him as that big a star. A future Hall of Fame induction seems likely, but seeing Angle wrestle in a WWE ring again? Forget it.
