10 New Directions For WWE After WrestleMania 41

2. Paul Heyman Explaining Double Betrayal

WWE WrestleMania 41 Night 1 Paul Heyman Seth Rollins Roman Reigns CM Punk

Master of the Kool Aid and all-round wordsmith Paul Heyman has some explaining to do.

Before WrestleMania 41 aired, yours truly described Heyman turning on both Roman Reigns and CM Punk then aligning with Seth Rollins as a nightmare. He stands by that unless there's a really, really good explanation for all of this. WWE deserves the chance to develop things and find that reason, because currently it doesn't make much sense and felt like a shock swerve booked for the sake of it.

It was the kind of thing one Vince Russo would've done during the worst of WCW days, or is that too harsh? It might be too harsh. Yep, it's likely best to wait for Heyman's coming promo and reasoning for hitting Punk and then Roman with low blows. If this boils down to that "favour" 'cause Seth didn't stomp him on Raw, then...that's nowhere near enough. Paul E's promo will require a little more meat on the bone than that.

Any fans sitting uncomfortably on the fence with this one can be rest assured of one thing: Heyman is great enough on the mic to make this all work out, and Rollins has a rich history of backstabbing behaviour himself. It remains to be seen if Heyman and Rollins will be a strict double act or part of something even bigger too.

Imagine Roman and Punk's faces if Paul and Seth disclose the true purpose of their treachery in Las Vegas by saying there's a higher power pulling the strings who got sick of the way things were being handled around here.
