Too many WWE pay-per-views seem inconsequential at worst and skippable at best. There's always this creeping awareness that company writers are already looking past the latest monthly, often before it even happens. That's been the case with shows like Elimination Chamber, Fastlane, 'Mania Backlash and Hell In A Cell this year alone.

Money In The Bank was different.

Did it exist to build towards SummerSlam? Oh yes, no doubt. However, WWE didn't ignore the urgent matter of presenting a killer card for the returning masses, and they managed to integrate August build into MITB without trampling all over what was actually going on live and in living colour.

It's a huge compliment to creative that big bouts like John Cena vs. Roman Reigns and Edge vs. Seth Rollins were placed on the table like tasty morsels in front of fans without destroying Seth's MITB bid or Edge's attempt to dethrone Reigns.
