10 Terrible WWE Main Events One Tweak Away From Excellence

5. Hulk Hogan Vs Sid (WrestleMania VIII)

the undertaker goldberg
WWE

Why it's terrible: Hulk Hogan was half out the door by the time WrestleMania VIII arrived, thanks mostly to the scandal enveloping WWE (and by proxy, him) as well as his own burnout and an increasingly fractured relationship with the audience. Sid wasn't long for the company either, nor was he really good enough to meet the increased expectations of the crowd beyond the usual Hogan formula.

The finish really, really doesn't help, either...

One Tweak: Papa Shango doesn't miss his cue, the big daft b*stard.

The match doesn't exactly live or die by how well he times his (ironically, cursed) run-in, but Shango arriving late on the scene means Sid has to kick out of Hogan's leg drop as the pair panic and improvise an equally shoddy disqualification finish.

By the time he's actually made it and the villains have gained the advantage on 'The Hulkster' the nominal heat the match had generated was all but dead. The Ultimate Warrior's return generates an enormous pop, but it doesn't excuse the turkey that had preceeded it.
