While you can hardy blame The Game for failing to give folks a reason to invest in the inevitably doomed movie endeavour that was The Chaperone, he is very much responsible for one of the most embarrassing attempts to generate babyface sympathy in company history.

In the wake of being bested by an adored Brock Lesnar so early on in his return run with the company, Trips went out of his way to tease this actually being the end of the line for him in-between the ropes. His words of "I'm sorry" as he sold the impact of The Beast kimura submission didn't exactly elicit unanimous audible support for the fallen warrior, though.

Instead, notable pockets of the SummerSlam 2012 live crowd unleashed a wave of boos on the anything but genuine bid to make them believe he was in any way a beaten underdog or that this could be the actual end of his time in the on-screen spotlight.

Sure enough, The Game got his win back a few months later at 'Mania 29. But the damage had already been done to his main roster babyface aura thanks to this failed and largely forced SummerSlam face work.
