10 Things You May Have Missed From WWE Raw (Jul 2)
1. Bully Boy Braun
One week after trashing Kevin Owens' car, Braun Strowman was back to being an obnoxious bully on last night's Raw, trapping his victim in a Porta Potti, dragging it to the stage, then barging it down to the floor.
Braun's spectacle is part of his appeal. He's an action movie character come to life, and the stunts are essential in preserving this. We're not saying they need to stop outright, but the past few weeks have only presented Strowman in a negative light, and WWE need to switch lanes.
Is presenting 'The Monster Among Men' as an oversized playground bully necessary? Do we really need him acting like an unjustifiable d***head to guys like Kevin Owens, regardless of alignments? He's popular, and most people want to root for him, but it's extremely difficult to do that when he's presented this way.
This is a long-standing problem with WWE babyfaces, and Braun's character revives unwanted memories of Sheamus as the company's resident "good guy" bully boy. It stinks, because Strowman should be this era's undisputed alpha-face. Instead, he's currently no better than 'The Celtic Warrior' at his absolute worst.
