10 Times The PPV After WrestleMania Was Better

4. SummerSlam (1988)

Much like the previous entry, the pay per view that followed WrestleMania was much more killer than it was filler. And provided a moment that is ingrained into the brains of every WWF fan that saw the event. Maia IV was remembered for the fourteen-man tournament to determine the new WWF Champion, a tournament that took up most of the event's time. Andre and Hulk also squared off once again, finishing with a double disqualification which is never best for business while The Ultimate Warrior defeated Hercules, Brutus Beefcake defeated Intercontinental Champion The Honky Tonk Man by disqualification and Bad News Brown came out on top in a battle Royal. It was almost as if Mania 4 was setting up for the following SummerSlam, the debut of what is proclaimed as the biggest party of the summer in today's WWE. SummerSlam was created to allow WWE to go in deeper in the fledgling war with WCW and for that reason it featured a number of matches that were worthy of headlining any WWF pay per view at the time. The Ultimate Warrior defeated The Honky Tonk Man in approximately thirty seconds to end the longest Intercontinental Championship reign in history, The British Bulldogs faced off against The Fabulous Rougeau Brothers in a pulsating time limit draw, Demolition successfully defended their WWF Tag Team Championships against The Hart Foundation and The Mega Powers (pictured) defeated The Mega Bucks of Ted DiBiase and Andre The Giant with Jesse Ventura as special guest referee. Who could forget the ending to that match and Miss Elizabeth's red and yellow ensemble?
