10 Times WWE Fans' Worst Fears Came True

1. Roman's Mega Push

Roman Reigns Smug
WWE

It was obvious, almost from the moment he first appeared on the main roster, that Roman Reigns was slowly being groomed for a headline spot. You knew this because of the constant references to his sharing a bloodline with The Rock, and the fact that he always stood in the middle of his two fellow Hounds of Justice.

In the early stages, this realisation wasn't greeted with outright hostility; in fact, some sections of the WWE fanbase were actually right behind him. What concerns they did have instead stemmed largely from a worry that they'd somehow trip themselves up along the way.

Specifically, it was feared that The Big Dog would essentially step into the role previously occupied by John Cena: a revoltingly wholesome baby-face who is pushed (and pushed, and pushed) at the expense of his peers.

Fast forward five years and that's almost exactly what has come to pass. While he isn't quite as ubiquitous a main event presence as circa 2006-2007 Cena, there is an unavoidable sense that everything - from reuniting The Shield to having Lesnar bulldoze through half the roster - is about laying the groundwork for his WrestleMania coronation.
