10 Times WWE Fans' Worst Fears Came True
3. Geriatric DX
Sadly, ECW 2.0 was one of two attempts from WWE to try and invigorate their stale product with some yesteryear nostalgia - the other being the disappointing reboot of D-Generation X, which like all reboots failed to capture the magic of the original.
It's not like you can really classify this as a failure from the perspective of Vince McMahon. DX T-shirts still do great business on the company's online shop today - and most likely wouldn't if only fans of older than 30 knew who they were.
Fans of older than 30, incidentally, were precisely the ones warning us that all that glitters isn't necessarily gold. At the time, they insisted that Triple H and Shawn Michaels getting the band back together was a bad idea, primarily on the basis that these two weren't cool and hip but 40 and rapidly going grey.
They weren't wrong either. Everything that made the original DX great was off limits in the reboot, the unashamed lewdness for which they were once famous replaced with fart jokes and Hornswoggle skits (and, to be fair, one amazing impression of Shane McMahon).
