10 TNA Characters You Totally Don't Remember

7. Mortimer Plumtree

A lot of wrestling fans may have heard about The Johnsons (not to be confused with WWE’s “The Dicks”) in TNA. They were two guys who were literally dressed up to look like giant penises. They were portrayed by future WWE short-term residents The Gymini. But the duo also had themselves a manager, known as Mortimer Plumtree.

Plumtree was a longtime indy manager from Minnesota, who would fly down to Nashville to manage the two large, walking penises. Unfortunately for him, The Johnsons were flaccid and were let go after two shows. The fast talking, egocentric manager was then paired with Ace Steel, who also went limp and soon left the company.

Mortimer seemed like bad luck for his clients, until he achieved perhaps his most notable role when he was paired with upcoming star A.J. Styles.

However, the pairing didn’t last long either. This time, though, it was Mortimer who went. It’s rumored he was a “Jerry Jarrett guy” and Vince Russo and Jeff Jarrett were having a power struggle with the elder statesman, so they didn’t see much use in the manager.

Russo himself then took on a prominent TV role as he became the new manager of Styles. How convenient!

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
