8. Doink The Clown - Dastardly Clown
On the surface, a guy dressing up as a clown and going head-to-head with the likes of 'Macho Man' Randy Savage and Bret 'The Hitman' Hart probably should've fallen flat on its face. However, in the case of Matt Borne's version of the dastardly Doink the Clown character, WWE were able to capture something rather unexpectedly special in a bottle.
On top of playing numerous tricks on unsuspecting members of the crowd, Doink would also utilise this disturbing penchant for fun at the expense of someone else against his colleagues, with the moment he sent Big Boss Man flying over a tripwire, and tricked Crush into thinking a prosthetic arm was real before smacking him over the head with it being just a few moments of hilarious madness.
Yet, once Borne was given the boot from the character due to his issues with drug use, the character began to slip into goofier territory as Ray Liachelli took up the reins. It was then only a matter of time before the Doink character became a go-to jobber and a once captivating menace was depressingly defanged.
