10 Under-Appreciated WWE September PPV Matches

3. Shawn Michaels Vs. Randy Orton (Unforgiven 2003)

AJ Styles Dean Ambrose Backlash
WWE Network

So, it's not really talked about a lot, but Shawn Michaels was actually a pretty good professional wrestler. WWE, other wrestlers, and most fans are pretty low-key about it. You may or may not know that he's one of those guys who could have a great match with just about anyone, and when matched with another great worker, they could produce magic. Again, it's a really hidden tidbit about the guy.

And since you're probably choking on sarcasm, I'll stop and say that Shawn Michaels and Randy Orton expectedly had a really good match at Unforgiven 2003.

While Orton was still fairly green and not as smooth in-ring as he would eventually become, it was clear that by this point, WWE knew they had something special with him, and thus, giving him a legend killer gimmick and a match with Shawn was quite the rub. HBK, of course, carried the match with aplomb, delivering smooth sequence after smooth sequence, with Orton more than being able to keep up. It's not exactly the standout classic that Michaels had with Chris Jericho at WrestleMania XIX, but it's still an excellent showcase of how HBK looked like he hadn't missed a beat after his long absence. If you're a fan of both guys and are curious to see how even in 2003, Randy looked like a pro, check this one out.
