Just as Perry Saturn could have portrayed an excellent bad ass on TV, Meng actually was one. For years Meng's notorious reputation followed him in wrestling. By the time of his WCW exit in 2001, fans were made well aware of Meng's ability to destroy everything in his path in a legit setting. With all of the work-shoots going on throughout the wrestling world at that time it's unbelievable that Meng didn't get his opportunity to showcase that talent. Ideally the push that was given to mediocre UFC fighter Tank Abbott would have been offered to Meng, who would have excelled. Even though he was pushing 40 years old and wasn't the most charismatic character in the world, Meng's aura and backstage history would have fueled the character.
