10 Unlikeliest WWE WrestleMania Main-Eventers
2. Triple H
Triple H, heir apparent to WWE, has more power in WWE than anyone who isn't Vinny Mac himself. On his way up in the corporate hierarchy, the King of Kings absolutely dominated the main event scene in the 2000s, closing multiple WrestleManias, the latest at 'Mania 32.
However, such a track record would not be expected for someone who was fed to the Ultimate Warrior in less than two minutes at WrestleMania XII.
Triple H debuted in the garish cartoon world of 1995. As such, his persona was ripped straight from a Richie Rich comic, and he came out as a snooty aristocrat. This put him in the same pecking order as guys like "Spark Plug" Bob Holly, Duke "The Dumpster" Droese, and other animated New Generation gimmicks. Folks in creative such as Jim Cornette and Vince McMahon saw this svelte, technically-focused worker with the weird face and said "That's a mid-carder."
Of course, through Hunter's hard work, and his buddying up with the likes of Shawn Michaels, Vince Russo, and Vinny Mac himself, Helmsley was able to get over, transform into The Game, and main event several WrestleManias. And now, he's set to inherit the company.
Ultimately, Triple H is the prime example of how Vince's first impression of does not determine your future.
