10 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Oct 28)

6. Deeb & Hirsch Get Legit

Something may be brewing with the NWA and AEW.

While Tony Khan has previously called their working agreement "the extent of a personal relationship between Billy Corgan and myself," the increased airtime given to the organisation's new Women's Champion, Serena Deeb, suggests something has changed. Deeb, an AEW full-timer, was allowed to cut a short promo putting her new belt over, which hints that it may be A Thing in this universe going forward.

Thunder Rosa had previously defended the belt on AEW television, though never has the promotion of it been so overt. Definitely one to keep an eye on.

Deeb's first successful defence was a strong one. Leyla Hirsch is a rising prospect who marries combat sports legitimacy with a dynamic style of wrestling built from an MMA-esque background, while Deeb is one of the division's most refined athletes. They had a swift, snappy, and hard-hitting clash that had them working for every spot, before Serena scored her arm trap/single-leg crab combo for the submission.
