What is the next logical step when you've confidently established a domestic fanbase?

Spread your wings and fly around the world, of course.

Even though UFC holding shows outside of America is nothing new - their first being in Puerto Rico at UFC 8 - they have now lured in audiences in 15 different countries. Canada holds the record for events outside the U.S. with 18, while the U.K. comes a close second with 16. Britain's most recent event was held at the O2 arena in March 2019 and all in attendance beared witness to Darren Till's loss to Jorge Masvidal.

The Ultimate Fighter series has also managed to venture abroad, with Brazilian, Australian, Chinese, Canadian and Latin American editions in recent years.

UFC recognised very early on that they had a huge audience outside of the comfort of their own continent and have since made every effort to make sure fans around the world get the chance to see their favourite fighters live.

Dana White has even opened a new UFC Performance Institute in Shanghai, in order to give fighters in Asia the conditions to achieve MMA success in their own backyard.

Globalisation has given UFC an ever growing audience and talent roster to pick from.
