10 Weird Periods WWE Icons Would Like You To Forget
Even the most legendary of wrestlers go through weird periods of irrelevance.
History is a curious beast. Hall of Fame careers are always looked back on with heart eyes and joyful nostalgia, as we remember championship wins and life-affirming moments. The highs are remembered but so are the lows, as we follow our heroes on their individual stories, overcoming obstacles on their way to superstardom.
What is often forgotten is that even the best go through periods of nothingness, periods where stars and future icons are forced to contemplate their own potential irrelevance. Either that or they have to endure a pretty wretched run of pointlessness, veering from dull feud to dull feud like lost sheep in search of the flock.
These stories can be used as inspiration for the layman. If Stone Cold Steve Austin, Daniel Bryan or even The damn Undertaker find themselves going through weird periods where nothing seems to click, then we can all feel better about our own missteps. If The Nature Boy has to go through the motions in search of inspiration, then why should we feel bad about our own journeys?

10. Kane (2007)
Kane was a real non-entity in 2007. Saying that, one look at the men he feuded with throughout the year gives the Big Red Machine a pretty strong excuse. For one, his big feud going into WrestleMania 23 was with The Great Khali, arguably the least mobile and least engaging major superstar in recent memory. Kane did all he could to make the beef an interesting one, but not even the introduction of a hook could save it. Actually, why would a hook save it? The thing was doomed from the start, from before the start.
The former dentist was also lucky enough to feud with Big Daddy V, one of the few wrestlers who could give Khali a run for his money in the terrible stakes. The man formerly known as Viscera formerly known as Mabel was pretty awful at the best of times, and 2007 Viscera was a particularly wretched version of the guy. Kane didn't stand a chance.
WWE spent much of 2007 feuding Kane with men bigger than him, producing awful matches and reducing Kane's aura in the process. You can't be a big man if you're feuding with bigger men, after all.
