10 WrestleMania Rematches That Were Better Than The Originals

4. Batista vs. Triple H, Vengeance 2005

The buildup to Batista and HHH's big showdown in the main event of WrestleMania 21 was so good that it helped WWE garner their highest number of Pay-Per-View buys up to that point. Long story short: Batista wins the Rumble, Evolution buddy Triple H tries to manipulate Big Dave into challenging for the WWE Championship rather than HHH's World Championship, Batista is wise to HHH's game, and the underling ends the alliance in violent fashion. The match itself, though, didn't deliver €“ we got a boring, plodding affair from the master of them, and his would-be successor certainly didn't dazzle. The following month at Backlash, a rematch between the two ended in a lame disqualification. This all set the stage for Vengeance, where World Heavyweight Champion Batista defended against Triple H in their third encounter €“ this one a Hell in a Cell match. Though the previous two encounters were dull, and HHH's two most recent HIAC matches were just as bad (against Kevin Nash and Shawn Michaels), the planets aligned on June 26, and the two men had a fantastic encounter. After classic cage brawling, Batista put HHH down with a Batista Bomb, retaining his title. The feud could end on a high note.
