10 Wrestlers Who Threw Their Championships Away
9. Rhino - ECW World Heavyweight Championship
Rhino holds the accolade of being both the last ECW World Champion and ECW Television Champion when the promotion originally closed it's doors in 2001.
In 2006, while Rhino was a member of the TNA locker room, WWE had announced that it would be bringing back ECW as its own separate brand, and they had made contact with the ECW original to sign him to a new contract alongside the likes of Rob Van Dam, Sandman and the late, great Sabu.
During negotiations, TNA held a house show at the old ECW Arena where after defeating Jeff Jarrett, the Man Beast took to the mic holding a bag with the ECW title inside. He openly stated that he'd been offered a WWE contract, but didn't like the idea that creative had for the new ECW. To make his feelings loud and clear, Rhyno threw the "true" ECW World Heavyweight Championship in a trashcan and, in true extremist fashion, set the belt on fire!
It was noted after the fact that the belt burned was a replica, and not allowed to be shown on screen as WWE owned the rights to the ECW title, so would likely have sued the tits off TNA if it was shown. The actual belt is still in Rhino's possession.
