10 Wrestlers Who Will NEVER Be All Elite (And Why)
7. Dolph Ziggler
How many times has Dolph Ziggler grabbed the brass ring?
The man remained undeterred as the caddie of Kerwin White, a member of the Spirit Squad, the lover of Vickie Guerrero and numerous other questionable angles before he finally started getting a proper push. Despite a booming response from fans, Ziggler’s big World title moment proved painfully fleeting in 2013.
The start/stop nature of his pushes over the years have gradually alienated fans and badly tainted his credibility. Robbed of any meaningful run with a World title thanks to the stiff boots of Jake Hager, Ziggler has been a midcard mainstay for years. These days, Ziggler is mostly booked as an irritating heel to help get babyface stars over (something that has worked like a charm with Otis).
While Ziggler might not’ve reached the heights many had hoped he could in WWE, he won’t be jumping ship in the near future. Ziggler’s current contract is incredibly lucrative (past the $1 million mark) and permits him plenty of time to pursue his stand-up comedy. Given his age (39), extracurricular interests and financial stability, it appears Ziggler is winding down on his time in the ring and finding new passions in the performance world.
Messing with a comfortable lifestyle like that seems highly unlikely.
