10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (16 Oct)
6. Billy Gunn Got James Storm Hired By WWE
Earlier this year, Samoa Joe signed a deal with WWE to perform on the developmental NXT brand. Joe has also been doing some work at the WWE Performance Center, in a role that seems perfectly suited for him. Another former TNA star who has joined the NXT ranks is James Storm, who made his debut on the October 8th, 2015 set of tapings. A lot of fans wondered who had made initial contact, was it WWE or Storm himself? As it turns out, it was Billy Gunn who brokered the deal for his friend. Both men became pals during Gunn's run with TNA, and the former tag-team star was looking to do his buddy a favour. It's unclear whether or not Storm will continue to appear regularly in NXT, but his name is now known to WWE management. It was Gunn who put in a good word for Storm, feeling he'd be perfect for NXT. That certainly seems to be the case, and WWE officials are interested in making the developmental system a standalone brand capable of touring. Having experienced workers like James Storm on hand makes that easier, so it's likely he'll be appearing more often.
