10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (March 17)

1. Brock Lesnar Vetoed A WrestleMania Match With Shane McMahon

Rushing to Randy Orton's aid, showing concern and looking to protect the SmackDown star, Shane McMahon was dropped by a vicious F5 from Brock Lesnar as SummerSlam 2016 went off the air.

The bump was a powerful one; not only did Lesnar look like a ruthless, calculating monster for thumping Shane to the mat out of nowhere, the brilliant Paul Heyman also screamed at his client to think about what he'd just done to Vince McMahon's son.

Immediately, it seemed like Lesnar and Shane would collide on pay-per-view, because there was no way the spunky Shane-O-Mac would lay down and take such abuse.

It seems that was the plan, but Lesnar told WWE officials he wasn't interested in facing McMahon at WrestleMania 33 and had the match vetoed; Dave Meltzer told this story on The Wrestling Observer Radio, claiming that WWE were ready to promote the match fully before Brock told them he didn't want to do it.

That would make sense, because it certainly didn't appear logical for WWE to drop the idea cold without McMahon (the babyface) gaining any sort of retribution.
