10 Wrestling Legends Who Bled The Most For Their Art
3. Terry Funk
One of the originators of all this madness, The Funker went through more career reinventions than Chris Jericho. One of these reinventions left him a hardcore menace plying his vicious trade in ECW and FMW. Wrestling all manner of deathmatches, Funk racked up a mountain of bloodthirsty bouts.
His selling in regards to blading is some of the finest ever, of particular note are his performances at ECW’s first pay per view Barely Legal (where the beating he takes from Raven borders on being hard to watch) and the ECW reunion show, One Night Stand in 2006. After Mick Foley takes a fist full of barbed wire to Funk’s face, he sells it as if Foley just cost him an eye. It’s brutal and harsh to look at, noticeably unsettling the usually hard hearted ECW crowd.
Most astonishing of all in regards to Terry Funk is the fact that he is still doing this today. Yep, at 75 years young Funk is still coming out of quasi-retirement to stain the ring canvas red. At this rate, he’ll still be wrestling into next century.
