10 WWE Rematches Absolutely Nobody Wanted To See
1. Triple H Vs. Shawn Michaels
The 2006 D-Generation-X reunion wasn't wholly positive, but at least it parked the stream of awful Shawn Michaels/Triple H matches.
One of wrestling's great mysteries in the mid-2000s was their collective inability to have truly great battles with each other outside of 'HBK's incredible SummerSlam 2002 comeback.
Built around the ostensibly fragile back of of the 'Heartbreak Kid', Michaels exquisitely sold every move as if a bullet had been shot through his spine. Clawing through the screen for sympathy, his performance holds up to this day, as does Triple H's as a cold, vindictive former friend.
Despite countless efforts and more minutes of pay-per-view time in one night than many wrestlers receive in their entire career, the duo were never capable of recapturing the magic.
Away from some lifeless singles outings, their two biggest crimes were Armageddon 2002's Three Stages of Hell World Title Match, and the vanity-driven 40 minute snoozer inside Hell In A Cell to close out June 2004's Bad Blood pay-per-view.
Both were littered with high spot shortcuts not befitting of one self-proclaimed in-ring general and a best friend with a right to be considered the greatest in the history of the industry. Blood, tables, and even fire were rampantly abused at the expense of a good match and roster members that would have benefitted far more from the bells and whistles.
