10 WWE Stars That Should Have Won The World Title Sooner
1. Booker T
And coming in at number one, in a continuation of a WCW
theme, we have a former five-time WCW Champion in the form of Booker T.
Much like Rob Van Dam, when the Invasion angle kicked off in May of 2001, Booker T was one of a handful of guys who could—and should—have been booked as a genuine threat. Instead, he lost his WCW title to Kurt Angle, and while he’d win it back shortly after, he soon surrendered it to the Rock.
That was followed by another defeat in the Survivor Series “Winner Take All” match, and it wouldn’t be long before he was teaming with Goldust in a mid-card, comedy tag team. And sure, it was a brilliant, mid-card, comedy tag team, but a far cry from a potential run with as WWE Champion.
But that wasn’t it for the unfortunate Book-man; at WrestleMania 19, every single possible sign was pointing towards a victory over Triple H, and a stint as the champion of the world. Inexplicably, though, he lost, becoming just another victim of that aforementioned Reign of Terror.
It would be 2006 before he eventually won his first official WWE-branded World Heavyweight Title, beating Rey Mysterio at the Great American Bash.
Not once, but twice, Booker was denied when he really was deserving of better. Though eventually he did strike gold, this has to go down as a boat that was missed by WWE management.
