10 WWE Superstars Who Need To Revert To Their Old Gimmick
8. Doudrop Back To Piper Niven
Poor Piper Niven.
After a stellar run on NXT UK, for those who saw it, she felt like a future player for NXT on the assumed journey through the developmental systems to the main stage. Her size and moveset certainly sets her apart from the rest of the NXT women's division, and she could have made a serious impact on the brand and in the eyes of the fans.
But WWE bypassed that well worn route and debuted the young Scot on TV... alongside Eva Marie. As if that wasn't bad enough, they christened her with one of the worst names in wrestling history. Doudrop. It's laughable.
It's hard to distinguish what exactly her character is, as they have given Doudrop nothing to work with, yet she feels like a jobber. When you get given a disastrous name from the get-go, it's hard to pull a Kate Bush and keep running up that hill. The thing is, with Nia Jax gone and Tamina continuously a non-concern, there is space for a monster heel in the women's division. Her matches with Belair, although one sided in result, showed what a different dynamic she could bring.
Roll it back. Give her back her name, because it's an actual name, and give Piper Niven a fighting chance of a decent WWE run.
