10 WWE Wrestlers Vince McMahon Was RIGHT About

2. John Cena

Supposedly, WWE only realised there might be something they could do with John Cena once Stephanie McMahon overheard one of Cena's raps. Still, once WWE allowed the talent to showcase that quick thinking and charisma on TV, it didn't take long for the company to place hopes on the Massachusetts native of being their new poster boy.

Even WWE and Vince McMahon likely didn't realise just how big a star John Cena would become, and for just how long that star power would remain. Yes, there was the "Cena Sucks!" brigade, but that was a drop in the ocean compared to how reliable Cena was, how marketable Cena was, how underrated in ring Cena was (discounting that STF, of course), and how outright hard Cena worked, whether it's headlining a house show in some small town, or learning Mandarin and partaking in overseas press conferences.

In terms of sheer longevity with the promotion, Hulk Hogan's run atop the then-WWF was nine years, and 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin's run as the top star of the Attitude Era was five years. For Cena, he won his first World Title at WrestleMania 21 back in 2005, and was realistically still a full-time 'top guy' until 2018.

He may not be your particular favourite wrestler, but John Cena's credentials are undeniable when looking at how Vince McMahon was right to put so much trust in the former Prototype.
