11 Off-Air WCW Moments You Weren't Supposed To See
5. Flyer For The Final Nitro
What we have here is an interesting titbit, because not many people would have got to have seen these flyers. This flyer comes from Baltimore Sun writer and former WCW magazine editor Kevin Eck. Its a flyer from the very last Nitro, and even though its just a piece of paper thats been run through a photocopier it tells us a lot. Firstly as Eck describes it, there were rumours and all kinds of things going around about WCW possibly having its own show under Vince, or other possible options. But you can see by the flyer itself that clearly WCW knew the writing was on the wall and tried to go out with a bang at least. Secondly though, its an interesting embodiment of WCWs fall from grace. Just under three years before Nitro would sell 40,000 tickets to the Georgia Dome in the matter of a few days and would break all kinds of live attendance records throughout the USA. By its closure in March 2001 WCW would be struggling to fill up the small venue it had for its last edition, even with the promise of all you can drink beer at an insanely cheap price of $30.00. The flyer represents a sad tumble for WCW, and it indicates a tragic desperation from a company that had been king of the world, just a few short years prior to this.
