Up until his infamous departure in 1997, Bret Hart had looked like a WWE lifer. He even signed a 20-year contract with the company in October of 1996, though circumstances would change just a year down the line. Still, despite that pre-1997 loyalty to the company, Hart was another who appeared for other wrestling promotions, and not only that but he did so on a fair few occasions.

The United States Wrestling Association (USWA) was his go-to destination, and he competed at four of the promotion’s official events between 1993 and 1996, including a cage match with Jerry Lawler—a future booker of USWA—in August ’96.

On top of that, Hart made a handful of appearances for Stampede Wrestling (the company his father founded) while he also featured in a pair of outings for the Japanese promotion, Super World of Sports (SWS).

SWS ran a couple of shows in collaboration with WWE in 1991, hence Hart’s involvement, along with fellow WWE giants Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan.
