11 WWF Title Challengers No One Remembers
1. Taka Michinoku
WWF didn't have much in the way of cruiserwieghts during the Attitude Era, but they did have Taka Michinoku, who could wow fans with his fast pace, athletic style, and diverse moveset. He had already been well established to hardcore wrestling fans thanks to his work in both the major Japanese promotions, as well as ECW.
Once he partnered with his countryman in Funaki though, it felt like he would never amount to much and simply ride out his time in WWF as a comedy jobber, save for one crazy episode of Raw in south Florida.
Taka made his way out, with his KaiEnTai teammate by his side, as well as the Acolytes at his back. He challenged Triple H for the WWF title, with his crew chasing out the members of the McMahon-Helmsley partnership. What followed was a chaotic match where Taka kept receiving help, and even managed to take advantage of The Game's hot head. Unfortunately though, with enough interference, Triple H still retained.
Taka would finish out his WWF career without much to show for it before coming back to NJPW for a successful run there as respected veteran and member of Suzuki-Gun. He also played a big part in establishing a new star, working as Zack Sabre Jr's hype-man, helping to get him over to Japanese fans before eventually starting his own wrestling school.
