12 Greatest Ever Fictional Wrestlers

3. Randy "The Ram" Robinson - The Wrestler

I wasn't a huge fan of The Wrestler, but when I've crafted a list that counts a twenty year old sound effect from The Simpsons as a wrestler, I can't really justify not including Randy "the Ram" Robinson. He's surely the only wrestler that netted an Academy Award nomination for the actor portraying him (although personally I've always felt Big Show was snubbed for his harrowing portrayal of The Waterboy's Captain Insano).

Randy is a sadly accurate portrait of the ultimate fate of many wrestling stars of the 80's: his body is broken down, his life is in a shambles, and all he has left is his in-ring legacy. He's reduced to diminishing even that by continuing to perform long after doing so is a grotesque embarrassment. Personally, I would have preferred a lighter revolving around the used car-selling misadventures of Ernest Miller's Ayatollah, but, uh, there might be a reason I'm not an Oscar-nominated filmmaker.
