12 Most Annoyingly Effective Wrestling Musical Gimmicks

1. The Honky Tonk Man

It's kind of amazing that one of the worst Elvis impersonators in history somehow parlayed that into an epic-length professional wrestling title reign.

But The Honky Tonk Man did exactly that with the Intercontinental Championship, anointing himself as the most annoying man in music with cheap shots, guitar shots, shortcuts, and count-out victories designed to draw heat and maintain that untouchable championship streak. Even getting squashed by the Ultimate Warrior wasn't enough to keep him and his spangled jumpsuits down for long.

The closest he got to singing was sexually harassing Miss Elizabeth in vaguely rhythmic single entendres, but that only made him a better heel. Not only that, but he played an integral part in the musical career of another on this list, ensuring that his legacy of being associated with bad music continued onward for another generation of fans.
