How does the mere twinkle of a piano key create such a monster pop of a laugh?

The second it became apparent what this was—a piss-funny riff on Cody’s super-earnest Full Gear hype video—the realisation came with it genuine tears.

God, this was absolutely outstanding. This wasn’t just wrestling funny; some of the gags were at the level of top-tier modern comedy. “I’m not a farmer, so I don’t know what a G.O.A.T is, but I do know that Chris Jericho is the greatest of all time,” Virgil said. Virgil. F*cking Virgil, man, what a delightfully twisted and inspired meta-meta rib that was on Dusty Rhodes and DDP.

Your legendary buddy is DDP, is it? Look what I think of him.

Also: F*ck your dad.

Outstanding. That line itself was absolutely something the funniest Michael Schur-penned doofus would say.

The Inner Circle even sent themselves up, and it doubled as great heel work and yet another rib on the pompous leanings of the Elite.

This was hilarious, creative, unforgettable, something that Cody would have loathed—getting it over as an actual heel strategy—and it didn’t undermine Jericho as a serious Champion because he’s undefeated, with several clean wins, and armed with a totally lethal finish.

Pro wrestling perfection.
