12 WWE Rematches That Are Better Than The Original Classic

The first isn't always the best.

Great wrestling matches can be found anywhere but genuine classics are few and far between. To have a classic match, there are a lot of things that must go smoothly and a lot of factors to consider. Classic matches are usually the result of a good storyline, the performers being on the same page and having good timing, the right amount of time and, usually, a little bit of luck. When all of these things come together and a classic is had it is rightly celebrated and promoted. The WWE has had countless classic matches in its long history, as evidenced by the recent WWE.com article ' The100 Best Matches To See Before You Die'. Among the hundred matches on that list are many genuine classics that stand the test of time and have their rightful place in wrestling history. When two (or more) Superstars do have a classic match the temptation is to have a rematch as soon as possible, to capitalise on the success of the original. Sometimes this backfires badly and the magic cannot be recreated leading to audience (and wrestler) disappointment. Take, for example, the awful Hulk Hogan vs The Rock match from No Way Out 2003. The WWE expected a WrestleMania 18 atmosphere and electricity but got a clumsy match with an odd dynamic and an unforgiving crowd. Sometimes, try as they might, they cannot pull it off. Many times, however, wrestlers are able to do it again and sometimes even manage to top the original.
